Front Light

'Grassy Island lies at the very southern end of Green Bay near the mouth of the Fox River. The Grassy Island Range Lights, built in 1872, were located on an eastern embankment that was cut throught the island, enabling seamen to recognize the deepened artificial navigation channel in lower Green Bay....The lights remained in service until 1966, at which time it was suggested they be burned so that additional dredging of the harbor could be undertaken. Progressive thinking members of the Green Bay Yacht Club rescued the wooden lights from certain destruction and brought them to the Yacht Club by barge.'(Wisconsin Lighthouses, Ken and Barb Wardius)

The lights are being restored and can be viewed from the Municipal Boat Launch next to the Green Bay Yacht Club on Bay Beach Road in Green Bay.
