Made of Michigan limestone and brick, White River
Light Station near Whitehall reverberates with ghosts
of characters like Captain William Robinson, instrumental
in its commissioning and construction. As the first
keeper of the light, Robinson served 47 years, making
him one of Michigan's most veteran keepers.
Tucked between the White Lake channel on the north, the Lake Michigan shore on the west and the towering hills on the south, the White River Light Station houses a nautical museum. Inside, find a Fourth Order Fresnel lens originally used at this location. Climb an iron staircase to the light tower for a breathtaking view of Lake Michigan.
